Texas Holdem Poker - Vary Your Play

The area of play in no limit Texas Hold'em poker where rigid guidelines should be followed is the preflop deal of the hole cards. The hole cards, if you are not familiar with no limit Texas Hold'em, are the two cards that are dealt face-down to each player.
The number of possible card combinations at this point is not that great. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that every hand needs to be played the same way every time. Nor does it mean that playing the first two cards in no limit Texas Hold'em poker is easy. For the sake of variation, you should occasionally play your starting hand a bit differently. Additionally, the looseness or tightness of the particular Texas Hold'em game you are involved in should also play a role in determining how to play your hole cards.
You must be able to fool good Texas Hold'em players more often than poor ones if you plan to win consistently. However, if even poor player always have an idea of how you play your cards, you certainly lose at least part of your edge. For this reason, it is critical to vary your style of play and even the cards that you decide to play.
The type of game (loose/passive vs. tight/aggressive) will also dictate to a large degree what cards you should play and how you should play them. Many hands that are normally not very profitable in Texas Hold'em suddenly become very good money makers when your opponents are loose/passive so paying close attention to what style of game you are involved in is critical to becoming a winning poker player.
